Best Music Program for Kids

Chances are, if you have young kids, they’ve somehow benefitted from Makin’ Music—whether at preschool, camp, weekly classes, or through one of the company’s professionally produced CDs. Upbeat, funny originals and rockin’ revisions of old standards, the songs aren’t dumbed-down. Live performances are high-energy, interactive (with bags of instruments at each show and class) and appealing to kids and grown-ups alike.

Makin’ Music Rockin’ Rhythms
The musical tastes of young children and their parents almost never intersect. The mere mention of the name Raffi sends some Moms and Dads screaming up the wall; likewise, most toddlers are too young to appreciate the subtle musical textures of Canned Heat. If you want to enjoy music with your kids, strike while they’re still young enough to think tambourines are cool, and enroll them in the award-winning Makin’ Music Rockin’ Rhythms program. It’s composed of interactive music classes that are way more exciting than weekend piano lessons, and features music that won’t make you break out in hives. You can actually listen to it without cringing, raves one parent.

Ring Around the Rosy
Makin’ Music Rockin’ Rhythms Ring Around the Rosy, a music kit designed for children with special needs, includes a CD, songbook with activities, lyrics and guitar chords, and adaptive instruments. An essential item for music therapists and music teachers, the songs and related activities cover many areas special learners may focus on — basic grooming, fine/gross motor skills, and social skills. The songs vary greatly in both tempo and style; the words are very easy to understand. The authors give suggestions on how to adapt each activity to children with different physical challenges. The instruments (an adaptive shaker egg and an adaptive rhythm sticks) are made very well and with safety in mind. An excellent package.
